On Wednesday, December 22nd, I attended the DC Tweetdrive held at BlackFinn American Saloon in northwest Washington, DC.

The event was organized by @DCTweetdrive and @stephmajercik as part of a nation-wide toy and clothing drive. The goal of Tweetdrive is to use social media to provide for less fortunate children and spread holiday cheer.

The local beneficiary was the Central Union Mission, a nonprofit organization that provides toys during the holidays to about 2,000 children.

Among those in attendance were @berniemacx81 @DanaSFisher @rob_e_smith and @tracytran.

Guests enjoyed drink specials and free popchips courtesy of @popchipsDC. There was also a raffle. I was lucky enough to win a $50 BlackFinn Gift card!

Recap: Artists for Charity 4th Annual Holiday Benefit

 

Artists for CharityI had the pleasure of attending the Artists for Charity 4th Annual Holiday Benefit on Saturday, December 4th at the WVSA Gallery(1100 16th Street, NW) in Washington, DC.

Artists for Charity (AFC) is a non-profit organization that operates a Children’s Home for HIV-positive double orphans in Ethiopia. The turnout for the event was incredible! People from the throughout the DC metropolitan area community came together to take part in the benefit’s art auction, as well as sample Ethiopian culture.

During the event, I had a chance to catch up with @HannaTadesse and @Lsimwenyi, as well as meet some of the BLEN Corp team.

Of course I found time to camp out near the delicious food, provided by Enat Fine Ethiopian Cusine (4709 North Chambliss St. Alexandria, VA), and chow down!

I had a great time at the benefit and enjoyed being able to support Artist for Charity.
